Remedy Oil

The Herpes Witch Remedy Oil recipe is more elaborate than most of the recipes I provide, but it’s easy to make. This formula was one of my first creations. I wanted something for everything (scratches, burns, bug bites, rashes, and herpes). I fashioned it after old-world Thieves Oil but added nine more ingredients. I couldn't be happier with it.

 

What You'll Need

Depending on how much oil you make, you'll need a 10-30 ml dropper bottle, like the one shown below. For the recipe below (57 drops), a 10 ml bottle will suffice. You can find individual bottles at health food stores and online. 

 

Ingredients

The essential oils and the number of drops in the oil recipe are as follows (57 total drops). However, this recipe can be doubled or tripled for a larger supply.

 

  • Clove bud– 9
  • Lemon and/or lemon balm (melissa) – 7 (total drops)
  • Cinnamon leaf- 4
  • Cinnamon bark-3
  • Oregano– 5
  • Ravensara (not ravintsara) – 5
  • Tea tree (melaleuca) – 5
  • Rosemary- 4
  • Sweet orange– 4
  • Eucalyptus– 3
  • Lavender– 4
  • Myrrh– 2
  • Frankincense– 1
  • Winter Savory (or Mountain Savory)– 1

 

Pure lemon balm essential oil is costly. However, lemon essential oil works just as well in this recipe. Even when I have Melissa essential oil on hand, I use 3-4 drops of lemon and 3-4 drops of lemon balm.

Find a small, lidded container to hold 6-12 drops of The Herpes Witch Remedy Oil and two tablespoons of olive oil. This provides a 1-2% essential oil ratio, considered safe for use on the skin. You can go as high as a 5% ratio (30 drops to 2 tablespoons of carrier oil, such as virgin olive or coconut oil), but no higher. 

Feel free to experiment with other base oils like Saint John's Wort or tamanu. However, this method can sting more than the Herpes Witch Remedy Balm recipe. The Herpes Witch Remedy Balm recipe contains a more substantial dilution (5%) with no preparation necessary, making it a better choice for relieving irritated, raw, or broken skin.​

 

 

The Herpes Witch Remedy Oil Uses & Precautions

 

Topical Application to Kill Germs & Boost Your Immune System

Massage a few drops of diluted Remedy Oil onto your feet in the morning and again at night during cold and flu season, or whenever you have been around anyone who is ill. It may help boost your immune system and kill germs that cause colds and flu. Or, massage a few drops of diluted Remedy Oil onto the back of your neck, lower back (right under your waistline), the backs of your upper legs, and your feet (tops and bottoms). Do this up to 4 times daily for up to 14 days, which is usually the average recovery time for most viruses. You may also inhale the oil's scent throughout the day by inhaling directly from the bottle 3-4 times daily.

 

For Topical Pain

Diluted Remedy Oil can be applied directly to herpes blisters to relieve burning, itching, and pain. 

To use diluted Remedy Oil to soothe muscle and joint aches and pain, use a 5% dilution (30 drops of Remedy Oil to two tablespoons of carrier oil, such as olive, coconut, or some other food-grade oil) and apply a few drops to the area.

You can use diluted Remedy Oil for pain near the skin's surface, such as in the knuckles, elbows, and feet. To ease the pain, massage a dime-sized amount of balm directly over the muscle or joint 3-4 times daily. Don't slather on this formula. Using too much could cause sensitivity.

 

Toothpaste 

  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon baking Soda
  • 2 tablespoons bentonite clay
  • 20 drops of undiluted Herpes Witch Remedy Oil
  • ½ teaspoon of green stevia (optional)

 

Sore Tooth Oil

Rub one drop of diluted Remedy Oil on the gum around the sore tooth 4-5 times daily. Then spit out the oil along with any excess saliva until there's nothing more to spit. 

 

Mouthwash

Place 2-3 drops of undiluted Remedy Oil in about 4 ounces (1/2 cup) of warm water. Gargle and spit. Do not swallow.

 

Hand Sanitizer

  • 2/3 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 1/3 cup aloe vera gel, witch hazel, or vegetable glycerin
  • 8-10 drops of undiluted Herpes Witch Remedy Oil

Place all ingredients in a spray bottle and use it as necessary. A spray bottle works well with witch hazel or vegetable glycerin. A bottle with an open-and-pour nozzle works better for squeezing out the aloe vera version.

 

Scent a Flu Mask

Plague doctors scented their masks with herbs during the Black Death to prevent contracting the Bubonic Plague in the Old World. Place one or two drops of undiluted Remedy Oil directly on the material of your safety masks. I suggest placing one drop on each side of the nose area (not directly under) or at the tip of the chin (on the outer mask). It may help kill germs and lift your spirits simultaneously.

 

​Add to OTC Creams & Lotions

Add undiluted Remedy Oil to other creams and lotions you already make or purchase. Add up to 30 drops to every 2 ounces of cream or lotion. Be careful not to get it in your eyes. Do not add to creams, ointments, or lotions intended for internal use, such as hemorrhoid medications. See How to Measure Natural Remedies Correctly. 

 

Disinfecting Laundry

Add up to 30 drops of undiluted Remedy Oil per large wash load to freshen and disinfect clothing and bedding. Place the oil in the washtub after the tub has filled with water and swish to distribute.

 

Disinfecting Stuffed Animals

There's no need to toss the "Velveteen Rabbit" in the trash. To disinfect and clean stuffed toys, place them inside a pillowcase and tie them shut. Add 5-10 drops of undiluted Remedy Oil (for a small load) to the washing machine. Wash on the cold, gentle cycle.

If the toy cannot be machine-washed, add 4-5 drops of undiluted Remedy Oil to a piece of fabric. Place the material and toy in a pillowcase and toss them in the dryer for 20 minutes on a cold or warm cycle. Or place the toy in a closed box or container overnight along with 4-5 drops of undiluted Remedy Oil on a piece of cloth next to it, not on it. The container should be about the same size as the toy. Allow the toy to air out before letting a child play with it to avoid possible sensitivity. 

Note: NEVER place Herpes Witch Remedy Oil directly on a stuffed toy, as it may cause a sensitive reaction in a child under two.

 

Household Room-Purifying Spray

Add undiluted Remedy Oil to your spray bottle, then add water to make a household disinfectant spray. Use 6-12 drops of Remedy Oil for each ounce of warm water in your spray bottle. For example, if you're adding 4 ounces (1/2 cup) of warm water to your spray bottle, you will need 12-24 drops of undiluted Remedy Oil.

You can mist diluted Remedy Oil in the air or on countertops, doorknobs, toys, phones, remote controls, litter boxes, pet beds, toilets, and other places that need disinfecting. Spray mattresses to help dispel bed bugs. Spray on bathroom surfaces to kill mold. There is no need to wipe off unless a child or pet might handle or lick the surface. Give it a few minutes to work before wiping it off. Be sure to shake the bottle before using it.

I use this daily in my bathroom. If you live with others, it will kill "bad bathroom" smells in seconds! There's no need to wait for some chemically treated air freshener to do its job. And there's no having to breathe in harmful chemicals either. 

 

Household Disinfectant

This homemade hand sanitizer recipe will help prevent the spread of germs to family and friends. It will also save you money in the long run.​ My grandchildren help me make it, and my family uses this recipe daily. ​

  • 2/3 cup of alcohol
  • 1/3 cup aloe vera gel or witch hazel
  • 8-10 drops of antiviral essential oils (optional), such as Herpes Witch Remedy Oil. 

If you use aloe vera gel, place your mixture in a squeeze bottle for easy application. For witch hazel, put it in a spray bottle. Be sure to label your bottle (masking tape and a Sharpie will suffice). To avoid alcohol poisoning or injury, store it out of reach of children and pets.

To use, apply as often as needed to keep your hands as germ-free as possible until you can wash them with hot, soapy water for at least 18 seconds. It's safe to use on children old enough to keep their fingers out of their mouths.

 

Diffuse to Clear Airborne Germs

Remedy Oil kills airborne bacteria and can help prevent the spread of germs indoors when you want to clear them out fast. For preventive measures, diffuse undiluted Remedy Oil throughout your environment at least once daily (no more than 3-4 times) for 20 minutes to eliminate airborne germs.

If someone in your home is sick, add 6-12 drops of undiluted Remedy Oil to 2 tablespoons of olive oil (or some other food-grade oil) or water. Place this in a ceramic or glass container over a tea warmer and diffuse it for 20 minutes 3-4 times daily. Alternatively, you can simmer up to 12 (no more than 24) drops of undiluted Remedy Oil in 1/2 cup of water in a shallow pan on the stove (for 20 minutes at a time, 3-4 times per day). Cover the cup or pot when not in use.

A diffuser may be left running in a sick person's bedroom while they sleep. In children's rooms, place the diffuser away from the bed, in a corner or up high, so your child is not breathing direct fumes and cannot reach it. Also, set the diffuser where the family pet can't get to it. As long as the diffuser isn't placed near the child and remains out of reach, it may be used for children under 2 years old.

Note: The Herpes Witch Remedy Oil contains eucalyptus and rosemary essential oils, which may cause sensitivity in some individuals when inhaled. Also, follow the exact directions for your diffuser when using essential oils. I once used essential oils in a humidifier, unaware that oils could damage the system. Luckily, I was able to clean it out and save it. Afterward, I bought a humidifier designed for use with essential oils. What a delight!

 

Diffusing a Getaway, Office, or Vehicle

Place 4-6 drops of undiluted Remedy Oil onto a cotton ball in your car, office, or hotel room to kill airborne bacteria and disinfect the air. You can add cinnamon sticks or other essential oils. Vanilla, peppermint, cocoa, or orange essential oils dress up the fragrance, which works well on holidays and at dinner parties. No one will ever know you are disinfecting the air unless you tell them.

 

Labeling: Be sure to label your creations with names and dates. You can do this with masking tape and a waterproof Sharpie or buy fancy labels at a craft store.

 

Storing: The Herpes Witch Remedy Oil can last several months when stored in a cool, dark place. The scent will tell you whether it is still fresh. And, even if it is old, it will not harm you. It just may not work as effectively. The only exception is if water got into your oil. If so, discard it.
